We had a great time at the 'NextGen Cooling Summit' by DatacenterWorks! Thanks to Eric Luteijn and Switch Datacenters for the great event and having us! Good to see the increase of interest and visitors compared to the first edition; looking forward to the next.

Our dry cooler was delivered and put in place by Indusa Installaties BV! Took some time before we got it, but it's here! Just a few more items and we're complete to finalize the experience center and get started with the first pilots!

iXora will be present at the Hannover Messe during the annual startup & scale-up tradeshow, as part of a Dutch trade mission. The "Hannover Messe 2022" show is from 30th of May until the 2nd of June and is the largest industrial technology trade show in the world, that traditionally attracts well over 200,000 visitors from around the world. We will have our own stand at the Dutch Startup pavilion.
Scala Scientific B.V. joins pilot project at our experience center by connecting their building for the use of the residual heat generated by our test and pilot projects. Scala and iXora have been neighbors since the start of iXora in Ede and Scala often gives input and a helping hand during the development of the HRM solution. Scala is a dedicated company in cooling equipment for laboratories and other scientific and medical applications, therefore additional knowledge about high-performance cooling is always next door for our engineering team.
Michel Keijzer, founder of Scala Scientific B.V. about the pilot project: "For us as a company, reducing energy consumption and our carbon footprint has been becoming increasingly important, we love the projects going on at iXora and are more than happy to join in this project. We have a strong belief this will enable datacenters to become more sustainable in the future and provide a growing role in the ongoing energy transition."
An expert team from ABB visited our experience center today to have a joint workshop about highly efficient Direct Current (DC) infrastructure in datacenters. Followed by ideas about the combination of that with the high-density that becomes possible using our HRM solution. Next to that, ABB is joining in the pilot program as a partner in further development of the experience center.

For the construction of our experience center, more and more parts are arriving; the heat exchanger to use the residual heat for heating experiments arrived as did the first GRUNDFOS Magna3 pump!
New team member.. or renewed team member! After a successful internship and a short period of absence, Esmee is back in our team! As web frontend developer & designer, she'll be taking care of our website. In the coming months she'll be adding features, content and improving the usability and general look & feel of our website. We're all glad to have her back!
The first batch of ABB EV charging stations arrived, Job and Vincent unpacking them. They'll be available for customer charging when visiting our office or experience center and of course for our own team with a growing number of EV's. These are the first addition of ABB to our building, more to come soon!
Spencer, one of our engineers, is finishing some of the heat generation boards we've developed to simulate different heat loads in our HRM prototypes. We can generate up to 8kW heat load per cassette (32kW per HRM), using custom designed high-power components. Using our flexible board layout we can simulate single, dual or quad CPU boards and multiple configurations of GPUs/heat sources. This provides us with test results of virtually any possible setup without the need of changing boards
On April 5th, our CEO Job Witteman was invited to inform VVD members of Dutch parliament about datacenter challenges and sustainability possibilities for datacenter industry. Subjects such as heat re-use for district heating, immersive cooling to increase energy efficiency and location planning were among the topics.
Today the first batch of prototypes arrived! In the coming weeks we'll be installing them in our experience center and start performing the first series of tests.
At Cortexon (a Legrand company), our partner for production of the first HRM series, the first prototypes are getting into their final stages!
In our experience center in Ede the construction continues. To offer space for customer pilot and test environments, more racks are being installed.

Switch Datacenters is allocating an area for testing purposes using iXora equipment. Working closely with their customers, Switch is thriving towards a more energy efficient future. By using the residual heat from the servers, Switch can provide hot water to the neighboring building, infrastructure to do so is already in place. Using this technology reduces the CO2e footprint while reducing energy usage for Switch, its customers and the users of the heat.
Edgar van Essen, Managing Director of Switch Datacenters about the collaboration with iXora: "As most data centers we are keen for new developments in energy reducing matters. We were among the firsts to implement several on-chip liquid cooling and early immersive cooling solutions. The large tanks used for current immersive cooling are highly efficient, but not very practical. We believe the iXora solution will be a gamechanger in this field and look forward to the test results we will be seeing with our customers in the upcoming year".
"iXora is pleased to board an innovative datacenter group this early in the development process. This really shows the need from the market and the opportunities the future will bring." Job Witteman explains, "We know there is a growing need for datacenters to implement immersive cooling but see a lot of reluctance because most only know the large tanks currently on the market. The solution iXora is offering is much more practical to implement in existing infrastructure and will offer an ease to use system for the engineers".
Next week we'll be visiting Kickstart Europe at the Amsterdam Rai, looking forward meeting with many stakeholders and leaders of the datacenter industry.
The first racks for our experience center in Ede have arrived. In cooperation with Minkels, a Legrand daughter company, we're building a datacenter experience where the HRM's will be tested and shown.
AV&Stage, the magazine for the pro-audio, broadcast and stage professionals published a nice article about iXora and our technology. Interview with Vincent Beek and Vincent Houwert, about our history and the upcoming products and how our silent and efficient technology fits into mobile broadcast studio's, stage applications and general studio environments.

After successful showings at the Next-Gen Datacenter Cooling Summit (Woerden, The Netherlands) and Slush 2021 (Helsinki, Finland), iXora officially releases its second concept model. The HRM-10X is based on the same technology as the previous HRM-3X. Additional features include improvements in the ease of use during maintenance. Last Thursday we presented our HRM-3X and the brand new concept model, the HRM-10X at Switch Datacenters, during the Next-gen Datacenter Summit. Organized by Eric Luteijn, this will be a recurring event about innovations in the datacenter market. Very pleasant day with interesting speakers and a great discussion pane l. We reached a major milestone; the public release of our first concept/prototype: the iXora HRM-3X (Hypotherm Rack Mount), a modulair, 19"-rack mountable, closed immersive cooling solution for datacenters and their customers. A great and enthusiastic audience watched how we unveiled the prototype we've been working on for the past few months. Next-stop: Amsterdam Rai, 14th of October!
Yes, exciting news! We've seen the first glimpse of the upcoming prototype, the full-size iXora HRM-3X, to be shown to the public by the end of this month... This will be a featured concept model to show how the immersive cooling using cassettes can look in regular 19 -racks
To make life for our marketeers a bit easier and avoid future confusion we've decided to merge Stem Technologies, Hypotherm and iXora into one brand; iXora! To celebrate that, we'll be introducing our new logo shortly!

Our second Proof-of-Concept is performing extremely well; it's fast, it's stable and it cools perfectly to preset temperatures. Matching the added heat it does show quick response and keeps temperatures well within limits. At lower temperatures we see a lot of condensation as expected; the cold plates are without any insulation at this phase, so we're loosing performance and attract moist. Nothing unexpected fortunately
While most are enjoying their holidays, we're making progress. Together with cooling partner Scala Scientific we're finalizing the last bits and pieces of our second Proof-of-Concept. This one will be the first to cool the actual full cassettes down to -30°C. But obviously most tests will be performed around 20~25°C to avoid condensation.

Some technical background on the technology and how we came up with 'closed immersive cooling' and our vision towards the future.

One of the Netherlands largest newspapers, 'de Telegraaf', is publishing a story about us and our invention. The article is about patents and the legal costs and procedures that come with them. We were asked for a short interview through our Patent office, Patentwerk. You can view the article in our press area.
Vincent Houwert, our CTO, had an hour interview about himself, the cowboy -years of the early Internet, the future with immersive cooling and some other nerd talk.
The first 'StemOS' version is being deployed over our sensor boards; this is our modulair firmware that can run on both ESP32 and STM32 based testing/sensor pcb's we're designing for performing various tests. Next to that we've got our IR-measuring device so we can capture IR/heat images of how the heating liquid is behaving inside the cassettes. All according to our designed specifications so far!
Our Proof-of-Concept is performing above expectations; even without active cooling the system is already stable and at almost the same core temperature as with aircooling. At the moment we're only testing with loads up to 500 Watts (0.5kW), so by far not in target range. But this already gives an idea how effective the cooling can work with the heating components and liquid acting as one cooling body. Interesting and promising!
The first version of our immersive cooling cassette was delivered today by our metal manufacturer. Since all tests with the liquids and sensor boards have been successful, we can now start with inserting the first complete server setups into the liquid and perform testing on that. We'll be using some common brands of mainboards with processors from both AMD and Intel.
After the first barrels of liquid arrived last week, testing has been started. The liquid will be tested at -80°C, -60°C, vacuum / drycooled at -50°C and longer periods of -20°C. Multiple experiments will be done, the liquid on it's own and the liquid with some of our custom designed sensor boards in them to see how electronics behave in the liquid and at the very low temperatures.
